Themes and Ideas

Movember

Dedicate the month of November to men’s health. Movember focuses on prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. One simple activity is to encourage staff to grow a moustache in November. You could ask for before and after photos and post them on the wall with information about men’s health. The Movember website also has a section dedicated to workplace activities with ideas for fundraising and events.

International Stress Awareness Week

November 3-7

International Stress Awareness Week brings focus to stress management and campaigning against the stigma associated with stress and mental health issues. It was created in 2018 to raise awareness about stress prevention. You don’t have to wait for this week to use these great resources:

World Diabetes Day

November 14

The International Diabetes Foundation provides resources, such as social media images, infographics, posters and web banners and recommend activities in their free toolkit.

The Mayo Clinic shares that preventing some types of diabetes can be as basic as eating healthier, becoming more physically active and maintaining a healthy body weight.

National Addictions Awareness Week

November 24-30

National addictions awareness week provides an opportunity for people in Canada to learn more about prevention, talk about treatment and recovery, and share solutions.
