World Suicide Prevention Day
September 10
Open the conversation about suicide in your workplace using resources from the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention. Some ideas include a cycling event or passing on a #ConvoPlate from the Paul Hansell Foundation. You can also encourage social media outreach like joining the World Suicide Prevention Day Facebook Event Page.
Encourage leaders to plan regular team activities with the goal of developing resilience. Resilience is known to help prevent individuals from believing suicide is their only option. The activities provided in the free book Building Stronger Teams | Strengthening leadership skills are easy to use and can also help leaders improve their own emotional intelligence.
International Day of Peace
September 21
The UN General Assembly has declared this a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
International week of happiness at work
September 21-25
Everybody wants to be happy, including at work – where we spend a large amount of our time. Plus, when we are happy at work, we are likely to also be happier in the rest of our life. We believe that Happiness at Work should be on the list of top priorities of all organizations, big and small, national and international.
World Heart Day
September 29
World Heart Day is an opportunity for everyone to stop and consider how best to use heart for humanity, for nature, and for you. Beating cardiovascular disease is something that matters to every beating heart.
National day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30
Join community members from coast-to-coast-to-coast to mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. On September 30th and the days surrounding it, you can join in activities that will foster a reconciliation journey grounded in the spirit of learning, knowing, and taking action.
